Venthayam
Venthayam or Fenugreek is an annual plant cultivated worldwide as a semiarid crop. They have leaves consisting of three small oblong leaflets. In India, its seeds and leaves are used for preparing mouthwatering dishes. They are popularly used in traditional medicine.
HISTORY
Fenugreek or Venthayam have been brought into cultivation in the Near East. Around 4000 BC Charred fenugreek seeds have been recovered from Iraq and Bronze Age levels of Lachish and desiccated seeds from the tomb of Tutankhamen.
